I tend to trust way too much
A flaw in my character I have been told
Yes, I have been hurt by strangers as well as friends
But I cannot allow those lessons to put my trust on hold
Yes, all trust has to be earned
But that does not mean we shut the door
On everyone that comes into our lives
We cannot shun people because we have been hurt before
We can decide to never trust anyone
In this way, we never lose control
We will live our lives on our own terms
But we lose our connection to the human soul
Trust makes us so vulnerable
And at the same time, it makes us strong
It allows us to open our hearts completely
And find a place where we truly belong
