Deadlines loomed; I needed to write
So, to my computer I went
But nothing happened, the computer was silent
Damn, another day of technology torment
It turned out to not be my computer’s fault
I soon realized all my power was out
So, I sat and tried to write long hand for a while
Finally, frustrated I began to pace and shout
For two hours I puttered around the house
Waiting for my electricity to return
I heard a buzz; the lights flickered on
This was a false sense of hope I would soon learn
I pushed the “start” button on my PC
No little green light- oh no! my computer had died
The surge protector was not enough
Yep, my loyal friend had been permanently fried
I sobbed, “Please, computer, do not give up!”
But it was clear this was far worse than a small glitch
The electricity had sapped every bit of its strength
What could I utter but “Son of a bitch!”
I know you all count on me for positive poems
But allow me the time to grieve and vent
Tomorrow, I promise you words of inspiration
But today, enjoy my computer lament
