It is funny how we can forgive almost everyone
But our own mistakes, we find them so hard to let go
We play them over and over in our heads
Wishing we could re-live those moments long ago
We have to find a way to move on
And forgive ourselves for mistakes we made
Regrets have a way of holding our hopes in a vise
Forcing us to go through life insecure and afraid
We will never be free of making mistakes
But self-loathing is not the path to pursue
When we make amends and move on
We give ourselves permission to start anew
Forgive yourself as you forgive others
Lighten the burden you hold in your heart and mind
The essence of being human is that we are not perfect
Look to the future and leave the past behind
