I had this dream from when I was a child
Some laughed and said it would not be
A teacher once said “Who are you to have such lofty goals?”
And I thought she must be right; I was, afterall, only me.
I learned to be quiet about my dream
Not sure if any talent existed
Others were so vocal; so, I assumed they were better
My dream was pushed aside and my confidence twisted
Have you buried your dream from the world?
Does it peek out and tease you once in while?
Take out that dream and let it breathe on its own
Let it give your life spark; and your soul a smile
I learned our worst critics besides ourselves
Are those who have allowed their own dreams to die
Recognize the jealousy that exists in their hearts
Reject their bitterness and give your dream a try
Let your dream soar above the clouds
Let your dream be your beacon of light
Believe in the talents you do possess
And enjoy the journey as your dream takes flight
