We tend to think that freedom
Will remove the ties that bind
But sometimes freedom can be a prison
When loneliness invades our mind
We like the idea we can come and go
We can choose whose company we keep
But sometimes freedom turns into isolation
And the price of being alone is far too steep
Freedom does not give us a pass
From forming bonds or emotional ties
We need to give love without hesitation
And see it stare back from another’s eyes
Recognizing the love around us
Is the most honest freedom we can know
When our hearts choose to embrace another
True seeds of freedom we begin to sow
