There are times when it’s hard to get a grip on the day
The problems insurmountable – is there a place to hide?
But I have to ask myself if all the obstacles are real
Or projections of my imagination, my darker side?
When I become immersed in what could go wrong
When my confidence wanes and finally waves good-bye
I try to take a moment and take one step back
A different perspective can become my greatest ally
When I look at situations with a distant eye
It’s amazing how my warped vision becomes so clear
I realize that not every detail lies within my control
And life is not as hopeless as it would appear
Take that step back away from your emotions
Let your mind and heart gain a new view
You will discover that the worst fears you can imagine
Are most likely not what is waiting for you
We all have reasons to be afraid
But our fears if allowed to grow on their own
Will destroy our dreams, our most sacred desires
And turn hearts of passion into hearts of stone
