I love to watch the faces of babies
Sitting upon their father’s shoulders without a care
Awed by the world they see from that high perch
Memories etched in a Father’s mind for all time to share
We grow up and those shoulders are still there
Ready to bear our worries and fears
They hold us up when our hearts are broken
They comfort us when we are drowning in our tears
Some say those shoulders in time will droop
But a father is always ready to bear his children’s pain
For they are his babies no matter their age or position
Hoisted on his shoulders they will always remain
A father’s shoulders never give out
They are our emotional protector for as long as we live
For we never forget the security they provided
And we never outgrow the hope that they give
