Last night, I listened to this insightful woman, Lisa Jimenez, speak on fear. She was doing a teleseminar on Lance Hood's "30 day wealth map program." I get a lot of freebie seminars in my email box, but I liked the people that Lance was featuring, and since I could play the call as I was winding down for the day, I signed up. I am very glad I did.
I have heard Lisa before, and she always inspires me. Last night, she talked about fear and how it cripples us. I know this to be true for me. I can get so far on a project, and then fear barges in my head, and suddenly, I am reduced to a blithering mess.
The lesson I loved from her talk is that fear can be your friend. Embrace it. When it hits, scream out loud in an excited voice why you are afraid. Say it like it was the best news you received. When you embrace it, you can control it and put it in its place.
I think that is a great concept. Once you get fear under your control, then you are limitless. I do believe that we always have fear in our lives. If you do not, you cannot be human, but what separates the risk takers and the achievers apart from everyone else is that fear is not in control. Fear takes a back seat in their lives. The "achievers" respect its existence but give it no power to control their minds and hearts.
The one thing that has really given me trouble when it comes to fear is when other people want to put their fear in my head. I just want to scream at them "GO AWAY AND KEEP YOUR FEAR OUT OF MY LIFE!"
Don't get me wrong. I am all for being a shoulder to cry on for all my friends, but when that crying turns into whining and fear mongering that lasts for months, I take a break.. If they are not open to changing their attitudes and developing a more positive mindset, I can do little for them. If their fear takes over them, then it's only a matter of time before that fear finds its next target, and that target is the person who is standing right next to them listening to their ever present negativity, and I do not want that person to be me!
There will always be people who want to spread fear. The media is big on that. I think they think that fear is the biggest motivator of all. What they do not get, and sometimes we do not get, is that love is the biggest motivator of all.
Lisa Jimenez says that fear is a sign that something great is about to happen. I like that thought. I guess that is why we need to make fear our friend. We recognize it, contain it and get on with our lives in a healthy fashion.
