Relationships end. It sounds so simple

But the heart does not understand to let go

Left on our own to sort out reality

Wishing for happier days long ago

Walking away – how can it be so easy?

When a heart—a soul—is so entwined

Yet, for some the memory is all that is needed

For some it’s best to leave the love behind

Sometimes we are those who walk away

Sometimes we are the one struggling to hold on

But in each lost love we discover our strength

We can see through the darkness and look to the dawn

One love does not define who we are

One love does not decide our fate

We are the keepers of our own destiny

Our happiness is our own responsibility to create

So grieve for the love that is no more

Rely on the comfort that comes from a friend

In each ending there is a new beginning

And your heart will find the courage to mend

Re: Walking Away

I couldn't understand the comment on my poem until your Monday poem came through Donna. Two minds - one thought. This was a lovely poem and I hope will give hope to those who might be suffering in this way. Pat
