“There is a season” many say
I guess it explains the cycle of life
And while hearing the words can bring great comfort
Feeling a loss still slices through us like a knife
Why do bad times have to come?
I think most of us would enjoy a life of smooth sailing
Would experiencing only good make us less human?
Do our most important lessons come from our failings?
I guess life is a two-sided coin
Good and bad times; depends how the coin lands
We all get a taste of heads and tails
It is inevitable; yet, so hard to understand
I guess when the coin signals rough seas
When challenges seem to be heading our way
We have to believe that the coin will again flip
And better times begin with the start of a new day
If we can hold onto that hope
That the pain will ebb and perhaps even cease
We can find the courage to face each new dawn
Knowing our hearts will once again find peace
