Today I watched the sunrise
This was not something I planned to do
A morning person I am not known to be
And what triggered me awake I have no clue
But outside my window a palette of colors
Just waited for me to take a glance
Pink, orange and lavender streamed through the clouds
That sunrise held me in a hypnotic trance
I sat at the edge of the bed
And watched the colors deepen then fade away
The wispy clouds danced before my eyes
But the spectacle quickly ended to my dismay
Life is like that sunrise
It is fleeting and exhilarating at its best
We have to wake up and embrace each moment
If we are to recognize how we are blessed
Do not hide under the covers
Or pull down the shades to block that light
Celebrate the colors of your sunrise
And then watch your dreams take flight
