I had fallen in a pit
Of which there seemed no way out
I was stuck at the bottom of this hole
In desperation, I began to shout
Can anyone hear me?
I could use a hand or a rope
Can you help me climb out of the dark?
Can you offer me a little hope?
As I stood in fear
In this dank and lonely place
I heard a reassuring voice cry out
“I have always held you in my embrace.”
At that very instant
A feeling of calm descended
The pit no longer ignited my fear
My time of dread had suddenly ended
I was never truly alone
I had just allowed my faith to lapse
But once I opened my heart again
That dark pit lost its power and collapsed
