The Perfect Day
My hair didn’t frizz
I made every light
No emergency emails
Not a meeting in sight
Someone brought in doughnuts
For all of us to eat
No powdered sugar on my shirt
I stayed perfectly neat
An important client signed a contract
The office was tension free
This day was pretty much perfect
I wondered how this could be
I started the morning with a “thank you”
For the blessings God brought my way
A smile to others I continued to show
As I made my way through the day
I usually wake up miserable
Hating the idea of the long day ahead
Frankly, joy and thanks are last on my mind
I mostly look to the day with dread
But today, I decided to make a change
And start the day in a positive light
A little more joy; a little more thanks
And the result: a day of sheer delight
