I can struggle with all that is around me
I can let outside forces take control
I can cower in fear at what might lie ahead
I can let self-doubt and misery steal my soul
This is the path that many of us take
We gravitate toward the dark recesses of our mind
We shut out the sun and the promise it offers
We abandon faith and leave hope behind
Why is it so easy to embrace fear?
What is the allure of feeling this pain?
I would rather let go of that struggle
And focus on dreams I have yet to attain
I choose not to welcome fear
Self-doubt will not define my existence
I choose not to let anger overpower my life
